Job Title: Director, Elementary Education and Charter Schools (SY 2026-2027) School District (Location of Position): Loudoun County Public Schools City/State (of Position): Ashburn, Virginia Where to Apply: https://lcps.schoolspring.com/ Position Open Until: 6/30/2026 Job Description Job Overview The Director of Elementary Education provides leadership and support to elementary school principals and teaching staffs in the development and execution of instructional plans designed to accomplish the mission and strategic goals established by the School Division. Roles and Responsibilities The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate. Works with the The Chief of Schools staff to coordinate the instructional program in grades PK-5 across schools,; monitors and evaluates the elementary school instructional program; recommends needed changes in the elementary instructional program; assists in the articulation of the PK-12 instructional program. Coordinates and supervises the work of all elementary schools; recommends staffing for all elementary schools; monitors enrollment for special permission requests; prepares and administers the budget for per pupil allotments for elementary instructional materials. Keeps elementary teachers and administrators abreast of educational trends and programs for elementary schools; in collaboration with the Elementary Executive Principals, conducts meetings and professional learning activities for elementary administrators. Supports and coaches elementary principals as they provide management and leadership for their schools so that each school moves closer to the accomplishment of the mission and strategic goals of the School Division; assists the elementary principals and their leadership teams in the development of school improvement plans and meets with the principals to monitor their progress toward these objectives. Evaluates elementary principals and provides direction regarding this assessment of their performance and accomplishments; provides supervision of and collaborates with Elementary Supervisors to ensure alignment across the division. Plans and supports the implementation of the Elementary Summer School Program. Serves as the LCPS staff liaison between LCPS School Board, Charter School Board Leadership and division staff to develop, revise, and maintain contracts. Qualifications Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable. Education Master’s Degree Experience Seven (7) years of progressive overall education experience in teaching, supervision, administration, with a minimum of three years focused on school administration Licenses and Certifications Postgraduate Professional License with an endorsement as an Elementary Principal Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated experience in developing and tracking budgets Knowledge of state and federal statutes, regulations, and rules relating to instruction, curriculum, student learning and ability to advise interested parties of the provisions of the laws Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and to meet deadlines Possesses strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills Ability to communicate with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds Demonstrate the leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with administrators and teachers Physical Requirements The following provides a brief description of physical requirements for this job: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
