Shaping the Future of Teaching: What Must New Educators Know?

Friday, November 20 | 11:00am - 12:00pm CST

Presented by Mary-Dean Barringer, Consultant, National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification - NASDTEC, Washington, DC

The National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC) is working to identify the essential knowledge, skills and competencies new teachers will need to succeed in the classroom over the next decade.

Through the Novice Educator Essential Competencies (NEEC) initiative, NASDTEC is developing recommendations to help guide the preparation of future educators, regardless of their pathway into teaching.

During this interactive webinar, participants will learn about the initiative, explore the competencies being considered and have an opportunity to provide valuable feedback based on their experiences in school HR and educator recruitment.

Your perspective matters! What skills do you look for when hiring new teachers? What challenges do first-year educators face? And what competencies will be most critical for teachers entering the classroom in the years ahead?

Join NASDTEC Task Force members for an opportunity to share your insights and help inform the future of teacher preparation.

This webinar is sponsored by NASDTEC and is FREE for members of AASPA and FREE for nonmembers.
