Position Description: The School Director is the instructional and operational leader of a particular Distinctive School’s (DS) campus. The School Director takes on responsibilities typical of a school principal- supervising and maintaining all campus functions including school budgets, staffing decisions, and parent communication. The School Director also develops and executes the campus vision, mission and strategic plan as communicated via Distinctive Schools.

Vision & Mission:

  • Develop and execute the DS vision, mission, and strategic plan.
  • Develop and execute the campus vision and mission
  • Uphold a positive climate and culture across the building and community

Finances & Operations:

  • Oversee and approve all budget, facilities and school operational decisions including federal, state and local funding
  • Maintain systems and processes that support school functioning, finances, and safety
  • Oversee student enrollment
  • Oversee campus compliance
  • Staffing Supervise all campus personnel
  • Oversee compliance and accountability of staff members
  • Hire and approve all hiring decisions
  • Ensure building is fully staffed at all times
  • Work alongside the Talent Team to ensure strong execution of any events related to talent sourcing and recruitment

Student Services:

  • Oversee the Student Services Team
  • Uphold all components outlined in the school handbook
  • Oversee, support and approve all final disciplinary decisions


  • Uphold the Distinctive Schools instructional model as the instructional leader
  • Lead personalized learning vision and model
  • Conduct formal observations for all teachers and provide timely feedback
  • Oversee personalized professional learning for staff
  • Send weekly memos to staff
  • Serve as the instructional leader for all teaching staff


  • Communicate with all stakeholders including staff, students, families, community members and outside partners
  • Oversee all after-school programming
  • Coordinate and help lead special events at the school, including visits and tours
  • Oversee parent involvement groups
  • Organize all grant proposals
  • Coordinate and lead all Title funds for families
  • Oversee the Parent Teacher Committees
  • Organize all grant proposals


  • Education Master’s Degree 3-5 years school administration/leadership experience in education


  • Valid School Administrator/Principal Certificate/Endorsement


  • Ability to work 40+ hours per week between the hours of 8am-7pm
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and hit numerous deadlines simultaneously
  • Proficient in Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides
  • Comfortable with social media administration
