Job Description:

Buffalo Public Schools is accepting applications from qualified, diverse candidates who are willing to accept a cabinet level leadership position overseeing a group of schools to drive improved student academics, safety, and emotional outcomes.

We are the 2nd largest district in New York State and serve approximately 34,000 students in 60 schools.

This position represents one of the district’s key levers for turning around the lowest performing schools and supporting continuous improvement in all schools.

Candidates must have a master’s degree, and a New York State School District Administrator (SDA), or School District Leader (SDL) certificate at the time of application. Candidates must have a minimum of eight (8) years of combined certificated teaching and supervisory experience, with a minimum of five (5) years at the supervisory level. Candidates with school and/ or district administrative experience in an urban school district with a large racially and ethnically diverse population are preferred.

The Associate Superintendent of School Leadership reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools and will have a crucial role in leading BPS Principals to increase positive student outcomes in their schools.

This position will work with a small team of Associate Superintendents in the district but will be responsible for the following:

• Supervise and provide expert data driven guidance and leadership to approximately 15 building leaders
• Evaluate principals at the schools that he or she supervises
• Oversee and support all school improvement activities
• Advise principals on safety, security, and wellness at the schools
