Purpose of the Program
AASPA's E-Mentor Program will assist new AASPA members in their personnel positions by pairing them with an experienced AASPA member who can share his or her knowledge and advice via e-mail or phone.
Requesting an E-Mentor
To request a mentor, fill out the E-Mentor Request online form or use the print-and-fax form
- You must be a current AASPA member
- You must have been an AASPA member for less than 5 years (special permission can be granted for those who have been members for more than 5 years)
- You must be willing to commit enough time per month to allow for two-way communication with your mentor
Volunteering as an E-Mentor
To volunteer to be an E-mentor, fill out the E-Mentor Sign-Up online form or use the print-and-fax form
- You must be a current AASPA member
- You must have been an AASPA member for 5 or more years
- You must be willing to make a time commitment to communicate with your mentee at least once a month
Assigning Mentor Partners
AASPA will attempt to match the preferences marked on the forms as closely as possible for mentor and mentee. Once a match has been found, the E-Mentor will be contacted to make sure he or she is still willing to serve as a mentor, and to make them aware that a new AASPA member will be assigned to them.
Mentoring Process
AASPA will provide guidelines to the partners that will help guide their mentoring process; however, the communication between mentor partners will be arranged by the partners for how and when to communicate. AASPA will continue to send ideas for six months to the mentor partners regarding ways to enhance the mentor experience.
At the end of two months, AASPA will contact both mentor and mentee to fill out a progress report. At the end of six months, AASPA will contact both mentor and mentee to fill out an evaluation about their experience. However, the mentor partners may decide on an individual basis if they would like to continue to communicate after the six-month period.
