Although AASPA's history reaches back to 1940 with the formation of the National Conference of Teacher Examiners, the association assumed its present name in 1959. AASPA now serves over 2,000 members from the United States and across the world and is headquartered in
Overland Park, KS (a suburb of Kansas City, KS).
